It is still an amazing gift, something many people would not be able to afford.
Not only did this person say it once, they said it TWICE.

The value may be $285, but that could be $285 more than someone has for a device like this that can immensely help their child.
Many people would be extremely grateful to receive a gift like this, used or not.
